Release Date: July 13, 2020
SYNOPSIS: When someone tells you who you are, do you believe them? The first question the cops asked me was if anything out of the ordinary happened to me lately. When I woke up this morning in the room of a mental institution I couldn’t remember a thing – not my name nor how I got there. Not how I left or how I ended up in that interrogation room. The only thing I knew came from the contents inside my bag. A wallet, a student ID, a key that opened an unknown door, and two notebooks. They tell me my name. It matches my IDs. They tell me my story. I shut my eyes and try to piece it together, but can’t.
They tell me why they picked me up in the first place. They thought I was my sister. My brain stays stuck there. I try to rewind and fast-forward, as if my memories were on a videotape, but it’s no use. I can’t recall having a sister. They put me back in the car and drop me off in front of a mansion they call The Manor and I discover what the mysterious key in my backpack opens the front door, and just as quickly wish I’d never unlocked it at all.
REVIEW: How does Claire Contreras do it? I mean this series has been spectacular. When I read Half-Truths, I felt like I had never read anything like it before–seriously, I had the biggest book hangover. I knew I had to get my hands on Twisted Circles, because even if it was half as good as Half-Truths, I knew it would be great. Luckily, Claire Contreras has done it again. Twisted Circles is the romantic suspense I never saw coming. Every twist and turn made the story more mysterious.
I found myself deeply invested in the characters as we learn more about them and watch them handle the deceptions they’ve been dealt. Eva is such an awesome female lead. With everything she’s been through, she has so much strength and it really shows in her pursuit of the truth throughout this book. She’s an inspiration. One of the things the secret society aims to help its members with is achieving their full potential. You would think that Adam is well on his way by being the president of The Swords, doing well in school, and scoring an impressive internship. But I felt Adam truly started to see his full potential as he self-reflected on the events that were occurring and his part in The Swords. It was a beautiful and relevant moment, that really added to his character. Adam is just perfect as a supportive man in Eva’s life. Something I love about the romance in this one is that there isn’t relationship drama. The romance and relationship are a small part of the overall plot, but it’s total relationship goals.
I loved this book, and I cannot wait to see where Claire Contreras takes this series and if we’ll see more of the side characters. I’m going to go recover from my book hangover now, make sure to hit me up to take about this mind blowing book once you read it!
Thank you to Claire Contreras and Valentine PR for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!
