Release Date: August 11, 2020
SYNOPSIS: Nothing says happy birthday like catching your husband in a compromising position with his boss. His male boss. Why, hello, midlife crisis. I’m starting over, but this time I’m doing it right. Or at least I’m doing what I want. Taking the day off from work to hang out poolside? Yup. Do I leave the swimsuit in my house? Sure. Does my very hot, twenty-something pool boy happen to catch me naked? Oh, yeah, he does. And he likes what he sees… a lot. My best friend keeps telling me to have a fling and get back out there. But I’m not so sure she meant for me to do it with her son.
This is Book 2 in the Nashville Neighborhood Series (Age-Gap Romances)
REVIEW: Okay, so I’m not always a fan of age gap romances with really big gaps, so at the beginning this book I was a little uncomfortable. What pulls me into Nikki Sloan‘s books is her writing and how she gives depth to her characters. The more I got to know both Troy and Erika, the more I wanted it to work out for them despite all the odds against them. I really liked seeing Cassidy and Dr. Lowe from The Doctor, which is book one in the series! Erica seeking advice from Dr. Lowe warmed my heart. I really wanted to see Erica find some happiness after being in a marriage that was clearly not right for either of them. Something that I really admire in a character in general, is when they’re just all in about their love interest, and that’s definitely Troy from the very beginning. I just really appreciate him as a male character, which combated all of the other elements that made me a little uncomfortable and all the obstacles they had to face. I think it’s good for me as a person to be a little uncomfortable sometimes, because at the end of the day this is Troy and Erica’s story, not mine. They’re both adults, and if this relationship works for them and they’re happy, I’m definitely in their corner!
USA Today bestselling author Nikki Sloane landed in graphic design after her careers as a waitress, a screenwriter, and a ballroom dance instructor fell through. Now she writes full-time and lives in Kentucky with her husband, two sons, and a pug who is more slug than dog.
