How to Lose a Fiancé by Stefanie London

SYNOPSIS

Sophia Andreou has always been the “good daughter” who tried to keep her domineering father happy. She followed the rules and did everything that was asked of her. But this time, her father is asking too much. The family company is crumbling, and her father has arranged a marriage to a Greek billionaire who can save their property business. What?! Umm no thank you. If Cinderella can dress up to win a prince, surely Sophia can do the opposite and ditch hers…

Dion Kourakis has come a long way from being an orphan with only a single friend to his name. Now he runs a billion-dollar investment company and has the respect of everyone in Europe. His charming personality covers a lot of emotional scars, including his desire to make his mentor proud. Dion doesn’t exactly want a bride to go along with his next business deal, and he plans on letting the lass down gently when they meet…

Only, his future bride has turned out to be nothing like what he thought she’d be. She’s quirky and has a habit of turning up to social events in strange outfits. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what she’s up to, but the harder she tries to convince him she’d be an awful wife, the more he wants to convince her they’d be perfect together.

REVIEW

Dion is my type of male lead–the difficult upbringing, the self-made successful man, and he’s nice?! I understand why Sophia does what she does, but I would have caved right off the bat. Haha. Dion’s reasons for wanting Sophia’s family’s business really hit me in the feels. Stefanie London does a great job delivering a story that makes you feel all the emotions. I was invested in the characters, and laughing my butt off at the ideas Sophia came up with. Seriously, I had to stop reading during their first meeting, I was laughing that hard. I had too much fun with this book, and I’ll definitely be rereading it!

And soon they form a friendship that leaves them as close as sisters–and open to love where they least expect it…in Summer’s End.

REVIEW

Lori Foster has given us a sweet, lighthearted two-for-one romance. As we see both Joy and Maris find romance, we also get to see them build a friendship. I think this budding female friendship adds so much to the book! Joy is a single mother that has a hard time trusting people, so even letting Maris in is a big step for her. I think it also makes it easier for her to explore the potential with Royce, even if they both say that it’s just sex. And Maris is a total hard ass, but for good reasons. Seeing her and Daron come closer is such a treat. This book is a wonderful journey of building bonds and letting people in.

Kickin’ It by Rachel Van Dyken

Publisher: Skyscape

SYNOPSIS

Successful, high-profile sports agent Matt Kingston thinks he can handle anything. Then soccer player Parker Speedman shows up at his door. She is young and gorgeous, has natural talent, and is looking for a team. She’s also a hothead with a punchy past who floored her last coach on live TV. Despite his misgivings, Matt agrees to be both her agent and her coach. Professional common sense says she’s off-limits. But what can he say about the raw attraction between them?

Parker plays soccer with her heart and soul. But after the events of the last year, she’s shaken. She’s already seen what a powerful man can do to a female athlete’s career. And her beloved dream is in the hands of a sexy, gorgeous man with the uncanny ability to slip past her defenses…and into her heart.

Now Matt and Parker are about to learn that when it comes to love, the only way to win is by breaking every rule they know. And by playing nice. Real nice.

REVIEW

THIS FREAKIN’ SERIES! I am here for it! Seriously, I love the explosive attraction between characters. Rachel Van Dyken does a wonderful job of creating characters with such realistic depth. They’ve been through experiences that make them relatable, and just add to their connections. When Matt was introduced in the first book, Risky Play, I fell in love with the dynamic between him, Slade, and Jagger. They are his clients, but also his friends, and they all mess around with each other is the best way. I was pretty excited to get his story in this book. I wasn’t expecting his love interest to be so amazing. Parker is determined, smart, and coping in the aftermath of trauma.

I couldn’t put this book down. They both have their reasons to hold back, which makes the journey to each other that much better. It’s almost like an enemies to lovers story with how hard they go at each other in the beginning. But I think my favorite part is witnessing Matt’s fall through all of his actions along the way. I sincerely recommend this series!!!

SYNOPSIS

DEFINITELY, MAYBE…OR LOVE, ACTUALLY?

English professor Bonnie Blythe expects her life to play out like her favorite novels, especially now that her long-term boyfriend has finally proposed. So when a shocking discovery leads Bonnie to end her engagement, she decides to close the book on love. But the plot thickens when a brand-new character enters the scene―and quickens Bonnie’s heart.

With his brilliant blue eyes, sexy accent, and irresistible charm, Theo Wharton is like a romantic hero straight out of a Jane Austen novel. When fate places Bonnie in England for a summer―conveniently close to Theo―she realizes a hot friends-with-benefits fling is exactly what she needs to start a fresh chapter. Just as Bonnie begins to believe she’s falling in love, an eye-opening revelation into Theo’s life makes Bonnie feel like she’s wandered into one of her favorite books. Will Bonnie have the courage to risk her heart and turn the page with the dashing Brit to find her true happy ending after all?

REVIEW

Heavy-handed there much, Lady Catherine? Bonnie had often wished to be in the middle of an Austen novel. Only now that she was, she couldn’t wait to escape.”

Okay, the moment when Bonnie meets Theo in Getting Hot with the Scot, I just knew I needed their story. Smitten by the Brit did NOT disappoint. Bonnie is always spouting off Shakespeare and Austen, which makes me love her even more. She’s been with the same guy since she was just a little girl, and she cast him, her best friend, and herself in the roles of Anne of Green Gables. She’s a total book nerd, which I’m sure many of us can relate to. She is just so sweet, yet strong, and I really enjoy that in a female character.

Don’t even get me started on the dashing and chivalrous Theo. Just kidding, I definitely want to talk about one of my new book boyfriends. We got a peek at the amazingness that is Theo when he helped Cassie in Getting Hot with the Scot, but man you really get to see it in this story. He is just always trying to do what’s right. But he does get to experience the saying, “the road to hell is paved with good intentions.” Will he completely screw everything up, that question is exactly what kept me sucked in to the very end.

And did I mention Theo’s sister helps Bonnie plan a hen party, which ends up being Harry Potter themed?! YES, this book is THAT AWESOME. I preordered my physical copy in Janurary, because I need to hold this piece of heaven in my hands.

SYNOPSIS

The Boston Westerlys are reuniting for a wedding—a longtime wish for its matriarch. If only Nicolette, the youngest of the clan’s siblings, could find love. With her true parentage suddenly in question, she feels like more of an outsider than ever. It figures that the one guest of any comfort is her grandmother’s greatest enemy. Now, Nicolette’s only impulse is to run. Disappearing to a small Iowa town, she can build a future on her terms without the Westerly name or money—or the secrets that have divided the family for years.

Despite his damning history with the Westerlys, Bryant Taunton recognizes a kindred spirit in Nicolette. He is drawn to the beautiful loner. When she vanishes, he follows. But Bryant has his own secrets, and gaining Nicolette’s trust won’t be easy. It might even require the help of the family she left behind.

Now, for Nicolette and Bryant, coming to terms with the past is the only way to make both their dreams come true, and to finally find a way home.

REVIEW

Have you read this series!? Well, you really should! I mean the Westerly’s are chaos in the best way. The crazy family dynamics really make each character’s story that much more endearing. Delinda is the meddling grandmother with a lot to learn about dealing with her grandchildren. She just wants what is best for them and she is a force to be reckoned with. I have loved seeing her evolution, and I actually liked her in this book, which was not always the case.

Nicolette is trying to cope with the questions around her parentage, but she is a HOT MESS. I really enjoyed the realness this brought to her character. She doesn’t handle things well, and that makes her relatable. I was just so invested in her, and really loved all her growth throughout the story. Now, let’s discuss the insta-love of this story. I mean do you need a new book boyfriend?! Because Bryant Taunton is delicious with a heart of gold. Between these two and the connections between characters, I couldn’t put this book down! I’d definitely recommend it, as well as the rest of the series.

Release Date: May 23, 2019

SYNOPSIS: The worst day of my life happened when Brandon died. We had our entire future mapped out.
Careers, marriage, kids—in that order. Then the universe threw a curveball and ended it all.

As I come to terms with everything, I learn I’m carrying his baby. Now I’m living with his roommate, the guy who’s made my life a living hell the past two years. Hunter’s now the one to hold me up when all I want to do is fall.

Knowing my religious parents will never accept the pregnancy out of wedlock, Hunter offers to be my fake husband. While I think he’s gone crazy, it’s the only plan that’ll keep them in my life. So I do whatever it takes to make our relationship believable—kissing, touching, even letting him hold me when we sleep. The lines are so blurred neither of us want to admit we’re no longer pretending.

The guilt of what we’re doing eats me alive as I struggle to deal with my emotions. I push him away, but he pulls me closer, showing me how he’s always felt.

Just as I begin to follow my heart, I learn Hunter’s been keeping secrets.
And I’m left to make the hardest decision of my life…

REVIEW

I don’t even know where to begin. This duet cuddled my heart, grabbed it, squeezed it, tore it out, and then tried to put it back in. A great romance book is a rollercoaster with twists and turns of emotions, and this duet surely delivers. Hunter has that persistent love that I really admire in a male lead. Both of these characters are processing all their emotions through a huge life change, and I love their growth throughout the story. Plus, the HEA is so satisfying and deserved when you finally get it.

Also, you meet Lennon’s sisters and Hunter’s friends in this duet, which you just know are going to be in the other duets. And while the reader will get Lennon and Hunter’s HEA at the end of this duet, let’s just say they’ll also get an OMG moment for the next duet. Which means I am now counting down the days until July when I can read Truly Mine, the next duet!

REVIEW

I love the small town romance! Seriously, the small town dynamics are so heartwarming. The characters are messy, and so easy to love. Laurel is in a wild predicament, but she’s so endearing. Mitch has a past that is impacting his views on the Monroes, especially Laurel. I seriously couldn’t put this book down once I got into it! I think my favorites are Odette and Flip, the older sisters which gruff personalities. I’m hoping they make more appearances throughout the series. I’ll definitely be keeping up with The Mountain Monroes!

Cheap Trick by Emily Goodwin

5 STARS!

Release Date: May 16, 2019

SYNOPSIS: Danielle Cross has spent her whole life running from breakups and troubles. She’s never stayed in the same place for long…until now.

The moment she walks through the doors of Logan Dawson’s bar, there’s an attraction between them neither can deny.

And when Danielle needs a date to her sister’s wedding, Logan is the man for the job. A cheap trick to fool her family is a small price to pay for a weekend in paradise.

Playing pretend is easy. The hard part? Trying to convince yourself the feelings are only fake.

REVIEW: Okay, this was my first foray into Emily Goodwin romance books, and I’m so happy I finally read her work. I could not put this one down! I kind of love how Danielle feels so lost, and is really fighting to live an authentic life despite her family. The male lead is a super sexy twin with a damn heart of gold. I really LOVE when the guy just knows the woman is the one for him. BUT they’re just friends. So if you love a good friends to lovers romance read, you’re going to need to read this one. There is a ton of “COME ON ALREADY” mixed with “AWWWW” but be sure to be ready for the STEAMY scenes, because they are HOT!

If you’ve read my reviews before, you also know I’m a sucker for series that are stand-alones about family members. Well Logan is just one of the Dawson siblings, so of course I jumped right into the previous books! I finished Cheat Codes, and am halfway through End Game which is a duet about the only female Dawson. Let’s just say I’m loving these ones just as much! They’re all on kindle unlimited too!

SYNOPSIS

Firefighter Jackson Donovan doesn’t look back–as a rule. So when his past comes roaring back to life in the form of not-so-damsel-in-distress Becks Benning, the last thing he wants to do is relive old times.

No matter how tempting she makes it seem…

Now thanks to his two interfering brothers, Becks is living with them while she looks for a new place and tries to pick up the pieces of her tattoo business that went up in flames. Which means a grown up, smokin’ hot Becks is in his house, sharing meals, and digging up old wounds. And despite his better judgement, the more time he spends with this smart, artistic, incredible woman the more he wants her in his bed–and his future.

Becks always had it bad for Jackson. Unfortunately for her, not much has changed–he’s still honorable, hard-working, sexy as sin–and closed off. But there’s more than one way to get to a man’s heart and if Jackson doesn’t want to recall old memories, she’ll just have to help him make new ones. Because now that she’s found Jackson again, she’s not letting him go.

REVIEW

I AM HERE FOR IT!

Seriously, hot firefighting brothers that had a rough beginning in childhood, you are speaking my language. I love reading about characters that have struggled, but succeeded despite the odds. It is really interesting to see the struggle to connect as an adult, because of the lasting impact of childhood adversity. I think Jaci Burton did a wonderful job, showing this struggle in a realistic way. I really enjoy the dark parts of characters, especially when they embrace them and grow. The compassion of the characters in this story is so special. Becks is a little spitfire with her own strengths and insecurities. Jackson is avoiding his past, and we all know that won’t make it go away. This is a journey of healing and finding love, and I adored every second of it! I cannot wait for Rafe and Kal’s stories.

Will this hockey star score his forever girl or will their Boyfriend Bargain end in heartbreak?

REVIEW

What I love most about Ilsa Madden-Mills’ books is the absolute realness. Sometimes I don’t like the characters or what they’re doing, but that is what makes me love the story as a whole. The characters are growing throughout the story. You can see them dealing with real problems, making mistakes, and learning from them. Madden-Mills’ books always hit me right in the feels, and leave me with a smile from ear to ear!

I really did enjoy getting to know Sugar and Z. The bumpy journey they’re on totally had me hooked and I couldn’t put the book down. And that chemistry, I mean damn! If you’re here for the lusty, sexy times, you’re in the right place. It helps that Z is a sexy viking warrior that plays hockey extremely well. Also, I love that Sugar is just who she is. Eric, who is Z’s best friend, is the perfect comedic relief at times. Reece was hard to empathize with, because I was more invested in Z and Sugar. That being said, I’d really love to get Eric and Reece’s stories too! We shall see if Ilsa Madden-Mills will bless us with more hockey romances, a girl can dream.
