Roping Melanie by Melissa Ellen

4 STARS

Release Date: July 27, 2021

SYNOPSIS: I didn’t have a lot, but what I had I was proud of. I was raised to keep my head down and work hard. I followed the rules, rarely straying off the straight and narrow path. That’s why when the opportunity to get wild and have a little fun presented itself, I jumped on it—or more like on him. The handsome cowboy from the bar. It was one night in Vegas. Afterward, all I had was the memory of his body pressed to mine and the hotel room key I swiped as I snuck out. I never expected to see him again. I definitely never imagined he’d show up in my small hometown seven years later, only to discover the daughter he never knew about.

REVIEW: I found Melissa Ellen with the last book in this series, Tempting Tim, which I seriously enjoyed. When I saw this one was a single mom and small town romance, I knew I would be interested. Then I found out that they have a one-night stand, that leaves Melanie with a secret baby!? Yes, sign me up! And I really did enjoy this author’s story of Nash and Melanie. I enjoyed seeing them navigate the family dynamics seven years later. I mean what a surprise for Nash when he walked in that bar. I definitely would recommend this entire series!

ABOUT MELISSA

I’m an indie author that focuses on contemporary romance with a little bit of everything: humor, angst and sometimes suspense. A Reason To Stay, book one of the Blackwood Series, was my debut novel.

I grew up as a book worm, reading anything and everything and still try to read at least a book a week. I’ve always had an active imagination. Luckily, I now have time to put it to good use writing about characters that are constantly swarming around in my head.

I went from designing buildings to crafting stories. I’m a creative entrepreneur and coffee connoisseur.

4 STARS

Release Date: February 4, 2021

SYNOPSIS: A hate to love, second chance romance. Just how wrong is it to want my best friend’s little sister? And, how do you fix a broken heart? This inquiring mind wants to know. It probably doesn’t matter though because Nora hates me. If you ever wondered, it is possible to live and work with someone in a small town and not speak to said person for months. That’s how long Nora ignores me after I tell her commitment isn’t for me. I didn’t know I was already in love with her. I didn’t know I was breaking my own heart by telling myself it was too complicated to fall for my best friend’s sister. All I want now is to find the way back to us.

What to Expect
✔️ A broody ex-military pilot
✔️ Best friend’s sister
✔️ Off limits
✔️ Frenemies to lovers
✔️ Hate to love
✔️ Second chance

REVIEW: This is just such an adorable series, every book has made me smile I love how the characters are connected through this small town Alaska and piloting. The previous book, Evers & Afters, was adorable, and I love how Cami’s coffee makes an appearance in this one as well. I seriously want a cup! Before this book we get little glimpses of the connection between Nora and Gabriel, and I knew I was going to enjoy their story. They started off as friends with benefits, until Gabriel put an end to all that, being anti-commitment. These two are scared and trying to protect themselves, but man did Gabriel win me over right in the beginning. I really was rooting for him to win Nora over and their chemistry was so hot! This book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend the other stories too!

June 7, 2021
SYNOPSIS: Timing is everything. Presley Hale and Sebastian Vargas are no strangers to goodbye. Their high school summers were spent wrapped up in each other until she would inevitably go home to California. One season after college, Sebastian finally escaped the little Texas town to travel the world, and they said goodbye for what they thought might be the last time. Sebastian went one way. Presley went the other. For the first time in five years, they’re both in town, but the timing is no better than ever. So the only thing to do is what they do best. Keep it casual. Friends with benefits. They’ve done it before—doing it again will be easy. But their hearts don’t get the memo. When the lines of their arrangement blur, Presley and Sebastian are faced with decisions they’ve avoided for years. And that’s not even their biggest problem.
A small town in danger of failing. A secret that could tear them apart. And two hearts that can’t hide anymore. They’ve shared so many summers, but none compare to what they’ll face. Timing is everything. And their time is almost up.

Friends With Benedicts is AVAILABLE NOW!
Are you ready for the perfect summer romantic comedy? It has everything from wicked banter to steamy steam to angst like only Staci Hart can bring.

REVIEW: This was very, very cute! There were a lot of layers to this story with the town, the characters, and everything they’ve dealt with over the years. Presley and Sebastian definitely handled coming back together fairly well with all the things considered. There was so much between them, and they definitely started to have miscommunications. When everyone’s telling them just to be honest and communicate with each other, and yet they don’t out of fear for what could possibly happen–it was pretty damn realistic. I really liked these two, and I really wanted to see them get their happy ever after! Especially after all the years they come together and then had to split apart. Cilla was absolutely adorable and a fun part of the story. It seems like we might be getting some stories about the Blums. I really do hope so, because they sound like a ton of fun! I definitely recommend you pick up this one!

Staci Hart

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life: a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom to three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, even though she’s certainly not the cleanest, nor is she the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party–especially if she’s been drinking whiskey–and her favorite word starts with f and ends with k. From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north in Denver, where snow is magic and the mountains have become home. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, gaming, or designing graphics. Connect with Staci Hart here!

The Fall we Fell by Victoria Denault

4.5 STARS

Release Date: May 24, 2021

SYNOPSIS: I thought proving myself worthy of her love would be the hard part. If only… When I left my childhood small town, I had a lot to prove. Now, I have a lot to fix. Namely, my relationship with my best friends’ little sister. We were just kids when I rejected Terra. Even then, I knew I was nowhere near good enough for her. I was sure I’d eventually forget her. But a decade later, working as a firefighter, the one flame I can’t put out is the one I hold for her. So I’m back in Ocean Pines, but Terra’s moved on with someone who doesn’t have my history of bad decisions and impulsive behavior. And as if all that wasn’t enough, she’s sick. I’ll give her a kidney, my heart, the last breath in my lungs…anything she wants. I’ll do anything to save her life, even if it means watching her live it without me.

The Fall We Fell, book one in the Ocean Pines series, is a sexy, angsty, friends-to-lovers contemporary romance featuring a firefighter who’ll do anything to win the smart, strong heroine of his dreams. Happily ever after and no cheating guaranteed.

REVIEW: Holy bad decisions. This one was a damn emotional roller coaster. I just love Second Chance Romances so much. And it’s funny, because ones that start when they’re teenagers usually make me want to smack both the characters for a variety of reasons. The main one being that the teenage decisions usually cause the characters so much grief that could have been avoided. This one definitely starts off like that, so I really wanted to get to the second half. I just knew all the goodness was coming! It was definitely a journey for both of these characters. I felt all the emotions, because there was a lot going on. By the end of the book, I was ecstatic for these two and their story left me with a smile. Victoria did exactly what she needed to do with this book. I really like her writing and the way she brings a lot of different elements to the story that challenge the characters and show their growth. I would really like to see more about some of the characters in this book! I don’t know if she has a plan for that yet, but I would be here for it! As I learned more about this family, I totally fell for them!

Could Have Been Us by Corinne Michaels

5 STARS

Release Date: April 26, 2021

SYNOPSIS: Fifteen years ago, I fell for Jack O’Donnell. I was just a girl, but I knew my brother’s best friend was the only man I’d ever love. On my eighteenth birthday, when I asked him to kiss me, I never imagined it would change my life so completely. I gave Jack everything that night. In order to move on, we had to go our separate ways and pretend like nothing happened… as though it wasn’t the greatest moment of my life. But even that wasn’t as heartbreaking as the secret we were forced to keep. I’ve tried not to think about how much I still love him. How I long to be back in his strong arms or the way his hazel eyes make my heart race. Until he kisses me again. And this time there’s no turning back. This time I know what it means. We belong together and there’s no use denying it any longer. But our feelings aren’t the only thing that won’t stay buried, our past resurfaces and threatens to destroy our second chance at happiness. When our love is tested once again, will we be strong enough to stand together?

New York Times Bestselling author Corinne Michaels returns to the Willow Creek Valley Series in this stunning small town, brother’s best friend romance.

REVIEW: Wow. This was not where I thought Jack and Stella’s story was going. It was definitely an emotional roller coaster and way deeper than I thought it would be. I think what I like about the Willow Creek Valley series the most is that it has so many layers. There is so much going on with these characters and their relationships. I love the whole family and the friends, pretty much everyone involved. The Parkerson siblings are a wonderful family to each other, their parents not so much. The different family dynamics for all the different characters, play such a big part in what happens to them. Jack is also a part of the family and I love how that played into this story. As soon as I got a hint that there was something between Jack and Stella in Return to Us, I just really wanted them to be together. The trajectory of the story was just not what I thought it be at all and it ended up being so different from anything I’ve read in a while. The ending was really great and it really made the book for me! Plus, we get that little bit of glimpse at the end of what’s to come in the next book, which means I’m counting down the days until we get more Willow Creek Valley stories!

Wright with Benefits by K.A. Linde

5 STARS

Release Date: April 26, 2021

SYNOPSIS: I shouldn’t have hooked up with my one night stand… again. To be fair, I was having the worst day of my life. I was sure that nothing else could go wrong.
Then in walks Jordan Wright.

We have a heated history, and I’ve been avoiding him. Not least of all because he’s a hundred percent my type with those big brown eyes, a ripped body, and his blisteringly broody charm. I said I’d never go near him again. But he’s there for me when I need him. And well, old habits die hard.

Only problem?
I’m leaving in a matter of months, and nothing is going to change my mind.
Maybe in the meantime, I can still have my Wright…with benefits.

REVIEW: These new contemporary romances from K.A. Linde in the Wright series are so adorable! She revisited the series with A Wright Christmas at the end of last year and it was too cute. It made me excited for more stories in the Wright world! Annie and Jordan had such a good journey. I think what I liked about them most was their instant connection from the beginning and how that played out over the years. The back stories and hangups also made it pretty interesting. The story was lighter on the drama, which was so nice! Things definitely happen to make the story move along, but it wasn’t so over the top that I was frustrated with any of the characters. It was just enough to cause a little heartbreak and a whole lot of happy. In other words, this story just made me smile! And it was so fun seeing all the side characters. Plus, two of those side characters will be getting their own book in July: Serves Me Wright! All of the stuff that happened in this book with Julian and his girlfriend. The little glimpses we got to see of Jennifer and her personality. I am beyond excited to see what happens to them, so I’m counting down the days until July 20th!

Southern Heart by Natasha Madison

4 STARS!

Release Date: March 6, 2021

SYNOPSIS: Some secrets have a way of coming back and haunting us, no matter how much we try to bury them.
Chelsea – Coming back home was supposed to be normal. Not that my life had ever been normal, but it was getting there. Then I opened the door and found a man—broken, bloodied, and fighting for his life. I don’t know why, but I said I would take care of him. I had to. Needed to. He was a mystery, showing up from out of nowhere. But he might have already stolen my heart.
Mayson Carey –
The only thing I have ever wanted in my entire life was to forget who I was. Joining the military helped me do this. Keep your head down and glide through life was my new motto. No strings, no relationships. Nothing. Everything was working until a knock at the door had me face-to-face with the reason I was running. So I ran—I fell into her arms, and she fell into my heart, but I know better than to think it’ll last.
Some secrets have a way of coming back and haunting us, no matter how much we try to bury them.

REVIEW: This was exactly what I expected from a Natasha Madison romantic suspense. An instant and strong connection between the characters and lots of drama! This family has fascinated me throughout all of the books, and it’s really awesome to see the kids get their stories told. I do enjoy the connection between Chelsea‘s relationship and her mother Savannah’s relationship. This series also addresses the impact of family on our relationships and how people view us. I always enjoy seeing that play out. I’m always entertained the strong women in this series and the alpha men that fall for them. Mayson is so endearing, especially as you find out more about him. I do love a tortured male lead. And how Chelsea sees what’s most important about him as a person is just the best. She does something really dumb, and it made me want to reach in the book and smack her, but other than that this was a fun read!

SYNOPSIS: In the middle of a crowded bar in our small Alaskan town, my estranged wife snuggles up to me as if we’re still a happy couple. Don’t get me wrong, we were a happy couple—before she walked out on me a year ago. We were the high school sweethearts everyone thought were destined to be together forever. We thought so too, which is why we married shortly after graduation. We had a good marriage. Until she left me without any real explanation. Now, she’s back—and this is the real kicker—she has amnesia and thinks I’m still her husband. Technically I am, although the divorce papers are sitting at the lawyer’s office. She’s desperate to remember her life in Sunrise Bay but I only want to find out why she left me. Once we conjure that memory up, it’s sayonara because there’s no second chances here. But as you probably already figured out, things didn’t go quite as I planned.

This is Book 2 in The Greene Family Series
An Amnesia Romance!

REVIEW: Freakin’ adorable! Seriously, I knew when we met Adam in My Beautiful Neighbor I was gonna love his story. The way he began the friendship with Presley, and listened to the random music to deal with his depression over being heartbroken just made him so endearing. I know this is Piper Rayne’s first amnesia romance, and I’ve got to say, I think they knocked it out of the park! Both Adam and Lucy were so lovable. I just wanted them to be together and happy. Of course, Piper Rayne had me laughing out loud during the first scene as per usual. Then you get the real emotion of what the journey is like for the two of them coming back together after everything that’s happened. As the story goes on, things start to fall into place, but what I really loved was the decisions they make as a couple the second time around. They actually stick to their promises and when everything comes out they are definitely #RelationshipGoals! I am sincerely loving the Greene family. It’s really fun seeing Hank and Marla as parents after reading My Twist of Fortune too! And with the juicy little cliffhanger that sets us up for the next book, I CANNOT wait for My Vegas Groom!

IF YOU LOVE:
✔️Childhood friends… to enemies…to more?
✔️Single parent
✔️Small-town drama
✔️Suspense
✔️Hero redemption

REVIEW: After that cliffhanger, I was so ready for this one. I have been so curious about both Katie and Noah since we got hints about their situation during Tyler and Gemma’s Duet. I knew they’d have a rocky ride! I kind of guessed a lot of what was going to happen, but I was still interested to see what Kennedy Fox was going to do with this one. They definitely did some great foreshadowing in this one and gave us a lot of the aftermath of all the craziness. It was nice to see how these two adapted to all of the things against them after the dust had settled. In true Kennedy Fox fashion, there was the drama, they were steamy times, and there were the awesome friendships. I do love this crazy interconnected group of friends, that’s for sure. Oh, and of course we got little snippets of what Everleigh will be dealing with in her duet with Archer, and man, I do not think I’m ready for the wildness that is her.

I could fall for him all over again. I’ve never believed in second chances. Will he be the one to change my mind?

Second Chance At Us, an all-new enemies-to-lovers romance from Stacy Travis is available now!

REVIEW: I am a big fan of second chance romances, but there always has to be a good reason for why the first time didn’t work out–which this one had, especially considering they were teenagers. I think what I liked about the story was getting to know Becca and Blake. From their losses in high school, to seeing how they’ve lived ever since, both of these characters have a lot of depth. I would say about 3/4 of the way through the story I definitely wanted them to have a happy ever after! In the beginning, there’s a lot of inner monologue, which kind of lost my interest after a while. The situation that Becca thinks Blake is in when they meet again, plus the inner monologue, just made me a little impatient to move it all along. It just felt really negative in the beginning. Luckily, it didn’t stay that way! The last third of the book was enjoyable and I appreciated the HEA.

It’s a rough world out there, and we all sometimes need a good, romantic beach read, even if we can’t make it to the beach. I’ve spent many lazy days walking the streets of Paris and other gorgeous European cities, and if I’m doing it right, I’m bringing you a dash of romance and a vacay fantasy.  I can’t sit still, so when I’m not hiking, biking or running, I’m playing a very average game of tennis. Background music for writing undoubtedly features some U2, Lizzo, Billy Joel, Pink, Taylor Swift, and Led Zeppelin. Not necessarily in that order. And if I could only eat one food group, it would be cheese. Or wine. Or bread. Are those food groups? Whatever.
