SYNOPSIS

Following the sudden death of his wife, Nathan Bell has spent nearly two years burying himself in work and neglecting his biggest responsibility: his daughter. Overcome with guilt, he wants to connect with little Marley, but he doesn’t know how to do it alone. And then Jenna Savage throws him a lifeline.

A single mom of twins, Jenna is more than capable of taking care of Nate’s adorable two-year-old, and wants to help Nathan however she can. Soon, attachments are made, forcing Jenna and her kids into new territory. And the closer everyone becomes, the more right it feels.

Falling in love forces Nathan to face his biggest fear, and when hearts, both big and little, are on the line, the only thing scarier than needing someone is losing them all.

REVIEW

This damn book. I loved every moment of it. Single parent romances are just so heartwarming, and this one even more so.

J. Daniels does such a good job at actually making the children characters that fuel the story. I fell in love with the kids, which made me so much more invested in the main characters and the interactions they had with each other’s children. It was impossible to not to feel for Nathan. And Jenna is just what he needs. There are some ups and downs, but not over the top drama which I also appreciated. I’m so very happy I picked this one up, and now I’m going to add the previous books in the Dirty Deeds series to my TBR!

SYNOPSIS

Stephen Hastings is a control freak.
He’s arrogant. He’s smart as a whip and sexy AF.
He has too much money. He’s bossy, and he’s usually right.
All I saw were his clear blue eyes, tight ass, and ripped torso.
I gladly handed him my V-card that night, ten years ago.
I was so stupid. I swore I’d never be that stupid again…

Emmy Barton works for a dry cleaner?
Yes, that Emmy Barton—long, blonde hair, bright blue eyes, pretty smile…
Sexy little ass. Smart mouth.
She was the only girl who interested me, but I was leaving to be an officer in the Navy.

Now I’m home, running my business, my life is perfectly ordered until I bump into her, divorced and struggling to make ends meet.
I hate seeing her like this. I hate that she married Burt “The Dick” Dickerson. What an asshole.

She says she hates me, but when we fight, it’s all heat and lust.
I won’t leave her this way.
She will let me help her and her son. She will stay…
It’s a thin line between love and hate, and this line is on fire.

(STAY is a STAND-ALONE enemies-to-lovers, second-chance, marriage of convenience romance. No cheating. No cliffhangers.)

REVIEW

I really enjoyed this fast paced and sexy romance read. The tropes are real in this one too, and I’m a fan! Second-chance romance, enemies to lovers, marriage of convenience, single parent romance, brother’s friend (although that isn’t a huge part of it). The chemistry between the characters is just yummy! This was my first Tia Louise read, but I’m kind of guessing the rollercoaster of emotions is her style. The author did a very good job of establishing enough of the backstory for the male lead before his questionable tryst with the leading lady, to keep me totally on board. I mean to take me from a place where I wasn’t sure about Stephen to rooting for him, is exactly what I want in a romance read. I absolutely love when my feelings about a character change as I read–it makes it more realistic for me.

Gimme Some Sugar by Molly Harper

4.5 Stars!

Release Date: April 2, 2019

Publisher: Gallery Books

Synopsis: Lucy Brewer would never have guessed that her best friend, Duffy McCready (of McCready’s Bait Shop & Funeral Home) has been in love with her since they were kids. Fear of rejection and his own romantic complications prevented Duffy from confessing his true feelings in high school, so he stood by and watched her wed Wayne Bowman right after high school. Wayne had always been a cheapskate, so it comes as no surprise when he suffers a fatal accident while fixing his own truck.

Even as her family and friends invade Lucy’s life and insist that the new widow is too fragile to do much beyond weeping, Lucy is ashamed to admit that life without Wayne is easier, less complicated. After all, no one knew what a relentless, soul-grinding trudge marriage to Wayne had been. Only Duffy can tell she’s hiding something.

In need of a fresh start, Lucy asks Duffy to put his cabinet-building skills to use, transforming the town’s meat shop into a bake shop. As the bakery takes shape, Lucy and Duffy discover the spark that pulled them together so many years ago. Could this finally be the second chance he’s always hoped for?

Review: I think what I love about this series is that the characters have so much depth. I love that we really get to know them, and see how who they are really dictates the situations they find themselves in.

Okay, so I have been waiting for Duffy’s story since his crazy relationship with his ex was mentioned in the first book (Sweet Tea and Sympathy), and I was not disappointed. Even with his mistakes, I just can’t help rooting for him! Duffy and Lucy just seem to belong together, and their story was so enthralling. Duffy’s CRAZY ex, Lana, is a real piece of work. Lucy handles her really well, considering. She also handles her mother-in-law fairly well, and THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING. I just really appreciate how undramatic Lucy is. Her and her son deserve a happy ending, that’s for sure.

And as always, the wacky and wonderful McCready’s are just so much fun. I honestly love this family, and really enjoy when each of their very unique personalities pop into the story and kind of take over. I recommend binging this whole series!

Baking with a Rockstar by Jasmin Miller

4 Stars!

Release Date: February 28, 2019

Synopsis: Rockstar Hudson Mitchell is over the glitz and spotlight of the music industry. Desperate for a break from the fast-paced life of fame, he retreats to the one place that has always been home.

Brooksville, California.

It’s the same place where Charlie has taken refuge, trying to build a life for herself and her young daughter. The quiet, small-town atmosphere and her new bakery venture are exactly what she needs to pick up the pieces of her shattered past.

As they spend more time together, neither of them is prepared for the effect Charlie has on Hudson, and how important she would become for his career.

Review: This romance is sweet as sugar. Charlie is just trying to work on her second-chance, which makes her hesitant. Hudson has been in his fast-paced rockstar life a little too long and has some pretty deep relationship baggage, which makes Charlie and her adorable little girl look like a dream. The journey Charlie and Hudson are on is slow with a couple bumps, but you may just want to stick it out to find out the ending. Plus, scenes with Hudson and Charlie’s daughter are some of the cutest!

Excerpt

“Charlie, where do you want me next?” Hudson’s voice sounds from behind me, making me jump.

The hairs on the back of my neck rise at the sound of his rich voice—the deep timbre almost echoing across the room—as I spin around to face him. “Gosh, Hudson, can you please stop sneaking up on me like that?”

I slap his shoulder lightly, leaving a nice flour mark on his black T-shirt.

Good. Serves him right.

Today is our second day together at “work,” and I still have to get used to him being around. Thankfully, I barely saw him yesterday, since he was helping one of the contractors fix a few things outside the building while I hid in my office, hunched over a pile of papers to make sure everything’s going according to plan. I wonder if Hudson stayed away from me on purpose, giving me some time to get used to him. I’m almost certain he knows how easily some people get overwhelmed by his presence.

He grimaces, but the mischief is clearly displayed in the way his eyes sparkle. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to, but you were so absorbed in your work. There could be a meteor coming your way, and you wouldn’t know it until it hit you.”

Well, he’s got me there. When I focus on something, it’s easy for me to zone out. “Very funny.”

I glare at him playfully and study him for a moment, taking him in, from his black T-shirt all the way to his dark gray jeans that are paired with black boots. His whole outfit is covered in dust, dirt, and a few specks of paint. He looks every bit the busy worker bee he’s been, and since I’m not blind—and my hormones practically demand it—I have to admit, he couldn’t look sexier.
