Only One Chance by Natasha Madison

5 STARS!

Release Date: October 20, 2020

SYNOPSIS: Miller – They called me the pretty boy on and off the ice. Hockey’s most eligible bachelor. When my teammate asked me to donate one date to his charity, I figured why not. Worst case, I’d spend the night with a fan. Best-case scenario, she would be hot. What I wasn’t expecting was for my dream girl to be the highest bidder. For years, she brushed me off, and now, I finally had a chance to take her out and show her who I really was. With only one shot at this, I really hoped I didn’t mess it up.
Layla – At the top of my career, I was riding the wave of my sports talk show having the best rating on the radio. I also made it a rule to never date any sports players. It was my one rule, and I was sticking to it until I bid on the only man who gets under my skin. All it takes is one touch, one night, one kiss, and only one chance.

REVIEW: There is something about the relentless pursuit of a woman that makes me fall for a male lead. Combine that with a player like Miller realizing how much Layla means to him and I was pulled right in. I sincerely loved these two. Layla fights the attraction for good reason, but once they both gave in. GAH! So damn good. Both characters have a depth that adds to the journey they go on together. Also, Miller was so much more than I thought he’d be. This whole story sucked me right in and I couldn’t put it down!

Timid by Devney Perry

5 Stars!!!

Release Date: June 19, 2018

Synopsis: Willa Doon has always been shy. Her quiet demeanor was something she’s always embraced. That is, until Jackson Page moves to town. The one man she desperately wants to take notice struggles to remember her name. Year after year, Willa stands by, watching as the bartender slash playboy drowns his demons in beer and sex. Then one night, he shows up at her door, suddenly aware that the girl he’s seen around Lark Cove is now a beautiful woman. Except what he doesn’t remember is that this visit isn’t his first. They spent a night together once before. A night he’s forgotten, thanks to a bottle of tequila. A night that crushed a timid girl’s heart, and set a broken man on the path to heal them both.

“One day, I am going to marry Jackson Page. I just had to get him to notice me first.”

Review: Willa Doon. Wow. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the innocent girl that was pining for Jackson, but, I loved her. The way Willa finally gets her chance is hilarious and makes you want to cry all at the same time. And because I got to see it from Willa’s perspective, I was pretty angry with Jackson. But here’s the thing, when I met Jackson and learned his part in Thea’s life (from the first book Tattered), I knew I needed his story. And I knew he had to redeem himself. Welp, Devney Perry did not disappoint. Jackson was everything I wanted him to be. I love how both Willa and Jackson bring out new sides of each other. Watching Jackson figure it all out and Willa grow into a stronger woman who holds her own is inspiring. I could not put this book down, just like the first in the series. Now onto book 3!

Release Date: June 18, 2019

Publisher: Harlequin

SYNOPSIS

Gold Valley’s wildest cowboy has finally met his match…

Jamie Dodge is confident she knows everything there is to know about cowboys. She grew up surrounded by them, after all. But somehow her new boss, champion saddle bronc rider Gabe Dalton’s brand of cowboy charm has her interested in all kinds of things she never has been before.

There are a million reasons Gabe should ignore his attraction to Jamie. He needs her horse-training skills on his family’s ranch…and the Dodge brothers would happily hurt him for touching her. Forget kissing her. He’d be a dead man. But Jamie’s tough-talking attitude masks an innocence that tempts him past the breaking point…and soothes the restlessness that’s dogged Gabe his whole life. Has this cowboy finally found a place he wants to call home?

REVIEW

What I love about Maisey Yates books, is I know what I’m getting myself into, specifically sexy and multilayered cowboys!! I’m also here for the female leads that read as tomboys.I love that Jamie has that type of personality, and I love her independent nature. Although at times, it also makes me frustrated with her. I’d say one of the nice things about this book is that its an easy read, but can still stir up some emotions in the reader! If you love Maisey Yates, this book is for you!

Fight Dirty by Emily Goodwin

SYNOPSIS

Owen Dawson is one of Eastwood’s most eligible bachelors. He could have any woman he wants, but when it comes to settling down, he only has eyes for Charlie Williams, and he blew his chance with her years ago. While Owen is busy trying to convince everyone—and himself—that the playboy life is for him, Charlie is trying to put her life back together.

After discovering her fiancé was cheating on her, Charlie packs her bags, leaves her fancy New York job, and goes back to the one place she never thought she’d return to: home. Determined to start over and stay far, far away from men, the last thing Charlie needs in her life is her first love, Owen…and the old feelings that come rushing back the moment she lays eyes on him.

While Charlie swears to avoid romance of any kind, Owen is willing to do whatever it takes to prove he’s a changed man and win Charlie back…even if it means fighting dirty.

REVIEW

If you’ve seen my previous reviews for this series, then you know I’m completely invested in the Dawson family. And once again the Dawson Family unit is a character in and of itself that brings so much to the story. Their gatherings are full of chaos in the best way, I’d love to be apart of the mess. Readers get to see the charming and ridiculous antics of Owen in the first four books, and I was so looking forward to seeing him change his manwhore ways. The chemistry between Owen and Charlie is as hot as ever, and it made for one fun ride. His single-minded pursuit is just so appealing to me as a romance reader, but I also love how his confidence slips at times making him more realistic. I was just so happy at the end of this book, and I’d definitely recommend it!

Now my fellow Dawson family readers, have we started a petition for Dean’s divorce and new love story yet?! Why yes, that sounds like a horrible sentiment, but his wife has just kind of sucked in every book, and I just feel like Dean, being a Dawson, deserves so much more. Only time will tell if Emily Goodwin will give us all what we’re hoping for!
